Efficient, Precise, and Environmentally Friendly —— Your trusted maerz type kiln manufacturer!
Maerz type kiln also called twin shaft lime kilns, is an efficient and environmentally friendly vertical lime kiln, is maerz kiln alternative. The maerz type kiln is calcination of lime by parallel flow regenerative method. That is two kilns for calcination and thermal storage replacement work, swap every 15-20 minutes. This reasonable calcination method can produce high-quality lime and ensure the activity of lime. And it can effectively improve thermal efficiency, energy consumption is also lower than that of traditional kilns. At the same time, it reduces the emission of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. It is also highly adaptable to fuels and can use coal, natural gas, mixed fuels, etc. The maerz type kiln is widely used in lime production, steel, chemical industry, etc. It is used with a limestone crusher, stacker reclaimer machine, screw conveyor machine, and other equipment. Maerz type kiln is renowned for its performance and reliability, it has become one of the leading solutions for the global lime calcining industry.
Structure of Maerz Type Kiln
- Preheating Zone: The preheating zone is mainly used to preheat the limestone raw material before it enters the high-temperature calcining zone. It fully uses exhaust gas from the calcining zone to heat the limestone. Increasing efficiency for subsequent calcination stage. Effectively reduces fuel consumption and improves thermal efficiency.
- Calcining Zone: The calcining zone is the core part of a type kiln, equipped with high-efficiency burners. It is located in the upper center of the kiln chamber, responsible for the high-temperature calcination of preheated limestone. The temperature of calcining zone up to 1100°C-1200°C. High-temperature flue gas and limestone and flow downward, limestone decomposition reaction at high temperatures.
- Cooling Zone: The cooling zone is located in the bottoms of the kiln chamber, it is responsible for cooling the limestone to the right temperature after high-temperature calcination, and facilitates subsequent handling and transportation. Cold air enters from the bottom of the kiln and is in reverse contact with the limestone. The heat generated by this process is recovered awaiting reuse.
- Exhaust Gas Treatment System: The exhaust gas is discharged from the preheating and calcining zones. First to the thermal storage room to recover heat. Subsequently, the exhaust gas passes through a dust removal system to remove the dust and ensure that the emissions comply with environmental standards.
- Automated Control Systems: The automated control systems of maerz type kiln use advanced PLC and DCS technology. Real-time monitoring of kiln temperature, pressure, fuel flow, exhaust gas composition, and other key parameters. Increase productivity and reduce manual intervention. Ensure consistent product quality and reduce the risk of operational errors.
Working Process:
The limestone is transported from the kiln roof to the preheating zone by a conveying system. Preheating of limestone to the right temperature using high-temperature exhaust gases. Subsequent entry into the calcining zone, The temperature of the calcining zone is up to 1100°C-1200°C. The limestone is decomposed into lime and carbon dioxide at high temperatures. Then the limestone enters the cooling zone to heat exchange with cold air. Cool to the proper temperature and recover the heat. The exhaust gas is recovered thermal energy by a heat storage chamber, then the exhaust gases up to emission standards through dedusted and desulfurized. The two kilns are alternate operations to realization of continuous production, and ensure the stabilization and efficiency of the limestone calcination process.
Excellent Parallel Flow Regenerative Process
The Maerz type lime kiln has two kilns with channels for connection. While one kiln is firing, the other serves as heat storage. Replacement every 15-20 minutes. During the combustion cycle, limestone absorbs heat from the combustion gases. In the second cycle, the new incoming limestone absorbs the heat of the exhaust gases produced during the first combustion process. Gas flows from one kiln to the other through a connecting channel between the two kilns. Continuous production is ensured and energy use is maximized.
Why Choose Maerz Type Kiln
High Thermal Efficiency
Because the parallel flow is regenerative, utilizing high-temperature exhaust gases, two kilns are alternate calcination and alternate preheating. High thermal energy utilization and low heat consumption. Heat consumption per unit of product can be up to 850kcal/kg.
Good Flexibility
Our customers can adjust the production capacity according to actual requirements. It can adapt to different quality limestone raw materials and process requirements. Also can choose suitable fuels according to cost, transportation, etc.
Environmentally Friendly
Compared to traditional lime kilns, maerz type kiln exhaust gas temperature, and low dust content. The exhaust gas temperature is 90-130℃, and the dust concentration in the exhaust gas is 5-8g/m³. Easy to adopt exhaust gas purification measures.
High Efficiency
The maerz type kiln uses an advanced intelligent control system, with the ability to adjust furnace temperature, pressure, fuel flow, etc. in real-time. The preheating system reduces calcination time. Overall increased productivity.

Proven Environmental Technology
Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) Emissions
Sulfur dioxide is one of the most common pollutants in the calcination process. Maerz type lime kiln effectively reduces sulphur oxide emissions through exhaust gas treatment system. This results in much lower emissions than conventional kilns.
Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Emissions
Nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions are harmful to the atmosphere. Maerz type lime kiln utilizes highly efficient combustion control technology to reduce NOx emission levels.
Particulate Emissions
Granules are solid particles produced during the calcination process, threats to the environment and health. Double chamber kiln with filtration and purification system for effective control of particulate emissions, ensure that emissions are within acceptable levels.
