Which Iindustries are Suitable for Low-reactive Lime Shaft Kiln?
Low-reactive quicklime produced by a low-reactive lime shaft kiln has a slow digestion rate and dense structure. It is an ideal material for producing AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) and sand-lime bricks.
Low-reactive quicklime shaft kilns are simple to operate and maintain, and have low operating costs. It is suitable for small-scale producers with limited budgets. Whether for use by building material factories or for supplying lime powder to the market, a low reactive lime shaft kiln is a suitable choice.
Technical Advantages of the Low-reactivity Lime Shaft Kiln
Continuous uptime: 95%
The low-reactive lime shaft kiln does not have a complex kiln switching device. Simple and robust structure; short manufacturing cycle. Easier maintenance and a lower failure rate. Continuous uptime can reach over 95%.
Low investment cost
The low-reactivity lime shaft kiln occupies a small area, and its investment cost is only 1/3 to 1/2 of that of a rotary kiln. It is suitable for small and medium-sized lime production lines and new projects. Short investment payback period.
Automation rate: 90%
The low-reactivity lime shaft kiln has a PLC/DCS centralized control system. It can monitor temperature, pressure, material level, and combustion status in real time. Automation rate reaches over 90%
Strong fuel adaptability
Low-reactive lime shaft kiln can use a variety of fuels such as natural gas, coke oven gas, and pulverized coal, depending on local energy conditions. This effectively improves energy efficiency.
Working Principle of the Low-Reactivity Lime Shaft Kiln
Material feeding stage
Limestone meeting the requirements is fed to the top of the kiln by a bucket elevator conveyor. The material distribution device evenly distributes limestone inside the kiln, ensuring a stable descent of the material.
Preheating stage
Limestone descends slowly, it exchanges heat fully with the high-temperature flue gas rising from the bottom of the kiln. The preheating zone generally heats the limestone to approximately 700–900°C. At this stage, the moisture in the limestone is evaporated, and the waste heat from the flue gas is recovered. This effectively reduces fuel consumption.
Calcination stage
The preheated limestone enters the calcination zone in the middle section of the kiln. At this stage, the temperature inside the kiln is between 1,000 and 1,200°C. Under high temperature, limestone undergoes a decomposition reaction. By controlling the calcination temperature, residence time, and combustion intensity, limestone can be transformed into quicklime with larger crystals and a denser structure. This achieves lower and more stable lime reactivity.
Cooling stage
The calcined high-temperature lime continues to move down to the cooling zone. Cold air is blown in from the bottom of the kiln and exchanges heat with the hot lime in the opposite direction. The cooled, low-activity quicklime is discharged from the kiln. It is used in industries such as building materials, AAC, sand-lime bricks, glass, and refractory materials.

Low-Reactivity Lime Shaft Kiln VS High-Reactivity Lime Shaft Kiln
——The essential difference between low reactive lime shaft kiln and high reactive lime shaft kiln lies in the different control of calcination temperature and residence time.
Which Kiln Is Right for You
Low-reactive lime shaft kiln
Take the single-shaft kiln as an example. The low reactive lime shaft kiln uses the countercurrent heating principle. The material moves from top to bottom, while the combustion flue gas flows from bottom to top. Low-reactivity lime is produced through a low-temperature, long-duration calcination process. The finished product has a dense crystal structure, high mechanical strength, and stable activity.
High-reactive lime shaft kiln
Take the PFR kiln as an example. The high-reactive lime shaft kiln adopts the principle of parallel flow heating. Fuel and combustion air flow in the same direction as the material. High-reactivity lime is produced through a high-temperature, short-duration calcination process. The product has high porosity and faster chemical reaction rate.
