LECA Production Line Solution
The LECA production line is also called the lightweight expanded clay aggregate production line. It is a production line that converts raw materials such as clay and shale into ceramsite products through high-temperature calcination. The main equipment for calcination is the LECA rotary kiln. The finished lightweight expanded clay aggregate has the features of lightweight, high strength, heat preservation, fireproof, etc. It is widely used in construction, gardening, and environmental protection fields.
The three most significant advantages are high automation, high energy saving, and high environmental protection. AGICO is committed to providing customers with reliable and economical LECA production line solutions. Ensure stable product quality and controllable production costs.
Advantages of the LECA Production Line
High efficiency
The modern LECA production line can achieve 24-hour continuous production. It greatly reduces labor costs and operational intensity. The annual output ranges from 5,000 to 300,000 m³. Meet large-scale market demand.
Environmentally friendly
The LECA production line features advanced waste heat recovery technology, which recycles hot exhaust gas for reuse. And we have a baghouse dust collector and other dust removal equipment, which make waste gas and dust meet emission standards.
Strong adaptability
The LECA production line can use clay, shale, fly ash, etc., as raw materials. No specific mineral source is required. The same production line can produce different grades of LECA products by adjusting the process parameters.
High rate of return
Converting low-cost raw materials into high-value finished products. LECA, as a functional material, has a higher value than ordinary sand and gravel. Global demand for LECA continues to grow.
Finished Product LECA:
LECA Production Line Process
- Crushing and grinding: Large pieces of raw materials need to be crushed and ground; only when the fineness reaches the appropriate level can the next step be taken. First, the raw material enters the jaw stone crusher for coarse crushing. Then enter the hammer stone crusher for fine crushing. Last, enter the limestone ball mill to grind it into powder. Ensure that the raw materials have good plasticity and uniform chemical composition.
- Granulation: The processed powder is sent to the granulator. There are usually disc granulators and drum granulators. In the granulator, water and adhesive are used. The material is rolled into a ball with a uniform particle size and moderate strength. The particle size, strength, and water content of the raw material balls directly affect the yield and quality of subsequent calcination.
- Calcination: this is the core link of the entire LECA production line. Raw balls are fed into the LECA rotary kiln after three stages of preheating, calcination, and sintering. Under high temperature, the compounds in the raw material balls decompose to produce gas, resulting in rapid volume expansion. Forming a hard outer shell and a porous interior.
- Cooling: The hot ceramsite coming out of the calcining area of the LECA rotary kiln needs to be immediately sent to the cooler. In the cooler, the temperature of the material is quickly reduced to below 100°C. This can lock the porous structure of the ceramsite and ensure the stability and strength of the finished product.
- Dust removal: The cooled ceramsite is accurately graded through a vibrating screen to meet the needs of different applications. Dust is generated during the production process. By using a baghouse dust collector, dust can be centrally processed and discharged after meeting the standards. The collected dust can also be recycled.
- Package: The qualified finished products after screening will be sent to the finished product warehouse by bucket elevator conveyor for storage and kept dry. Or, according to the order requirements, the finished products are packaged by the packaging machine and then transported.
LECA Production Line Core Equipment
—— AGICO guarantees to provide customers with high-quality original equipment.
The jaw stone crusher can crush large pieces of raw materials to less than 100-200mm, with a sturdy structure and large processing capacity. Hammer stone crusher can further crush the raw materials to below 30mm. Meet the limestone ball mill’s feed requirements.
The limestone ball mill grinds small pieces of material into powder through the grinding media in the cylinder. The grinding fineness can reach about 200 mesh. The fineness and uniformity of the powder determine the quality of subsequent granulation into balls. It also determines the uniformity and strength of the expansion of LECA products.
The LECA rotary kiln is the core equipment of the entire LECA production line. The material expands at a high temperature of 1100-1200°C. The LECA rotary kiln operates stably and can precisely control the temperature, which directly determines the output, density, and strength of LECA products.
The Baghouse dust collector is used to collect dust generated in each link. The dust-laden gas passes through the filter bag, the dust is blocked on the surface of the filter bag, and the purified gas is discharged safely. The dust is blown into the ash hopper and finally collected for reuse.
The Bucket elevator conveyor is used to lift materials in the LECA production line. It can be used in multiple stages. Materials can still be transported efficiently in production lines with limited space.
Market Prospects of the LECA Production Line
The market prospects of the LECA production line are very broad. Mainly due to the global demand for green buildings and energy conservation. As a lightweight, heat-insulating, and environmentally friendly building material, ceramsite is widely used in the construction industry, infrastructure, and gardening. More importantly, the LECA production line uses solid waste such as clay, shale, fly ash, etc., as raw materials, with a low price and high finished product value. Investing in a leca production line is a huge market opportunity.
Most importantly, AGICO can tailor-make Leca production line solutions for you. And provide high-quality original equipment. Make it easier to start your Leca production line.

Widespread Application of LECA
Building Materials: LECA can be used to produce lightweight concrete, blocks, and insulation boards. It reduces the weight of the structure. It also has heat insulation, sound insulation, and fire protection properties.
Gardening: LECA can achieve soilless cultivation because LECA is porous, neutral, breathable, and water-retaining. It can also be used to improve soil.
Civil Engineering: LECA is mainly used as an ultra-lightweight backfill material. It can reduce the load on the foundation and effectively reduce stress and settlement problems.
Environmentally friendly: LECA is a filter material that, due to its large surface area and porosity, becomes a medium for purifying drinking water in water treatment plants.
