The cyclone preheater uses suspension preheating to preheat and partially decompose the limestone by utilizing the high-temperature exhaust gases from the kiln tail and the high-temperature flue gases from combustion at the bottom of the disintegrator furnace, which is then fed into the limestone rotary kiln or lime shaft kiln for calcination. Thus, the calcination time in the kiln can be shortened, the length of the limestone rotary kiln can be reduced, energy consumption can be saved, and the heat exchange rate can be improved. The traditional lime production process usually involves preheating, calcining and cooling in a limestone rotary kiln or lime shaft kiln. Working Principle of Cyclone Preheater

The cyclone preheater mainly consists of an upper feeding system, preheater body, pushing device, hydraulic system, and lower charging chamber. It contains several cascade cyclone preheaters, generally 2-6 levels, the temperature of each level is different, the higher the level, the higher the temperature. 5 levels of cyclone preheater is the most widely used.

Limestone enters the cyclone gradually from top to bottom from the cyclone preheater’s feed system, and high-temperature exhaust gases flow from bottom to top to preheat the limestone. Cyclone through the rotating airflow to separate the material and exhaust gas, the larger particles of limestone fall into the next level of the cyclone, continue to heat exchange with the high-temperature exhaust gas, smaller particles of limestone with the exhaust gas continue to rise, and then from the upper end of the outlet discharged through the cyclone exhaust gas will be further purified through the dust removal system. The higher up the exhaust gases go, the lower the temperature, and the lower down the limestone goes the closer to the calcination temperature. Limestone can reach temperatures of up to 800°C in the cyclone preheater.
