PCC Plant Solution
PCC plant is also called a precipitated calcium carbonate plant. Precipitated calcium carbonate is used through a chemical method of digestion of high-calcium quicklime to produce lime slurry. It is then generated by reacting it with captured carbon dioxide (CO2). It is obtained by Precipitation, filtration, drying, and other processes. Precipitated calcium carbonate is different from natural calcium carbonate. The particle size, morphology, and purity can be precisely controlled by the pcc plant process. The purity of precipitated calcium carbonate can be as high as 98% or more. Common particle sizes range from 1μm – 10μm. It has good whiteness, low oil absorption, and low specific gravity. It is suitable for applications with high calcium carbonate requirements, such as papermaking, coatings, plastics, etc.

Types of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC):
Production Process for PCC Plant
- Raw Materials
Limestone is the main material for the production of precipitated calcium carbonate. After the limestone is mined, crushed into smaller particles by a limestone crusher machine, generally less than 50 mm. After the limestone is crushed, it needs to be screened into particles of uniform size using a circular vibrating screen or a linear vibrating screen.
- Limestone Calcination
The screened limestone is fed into the limestone rotary kiln through a screw conveyor machine or other conveying system. The limestone rotary kiln is heated to 900-1000°C to calcine the limestone. The limestone is decomposed into quicklime and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is expelled by the gas collection system and waiting for subsequent use.
- Lime Digestion
The quicklime reacts with water in the Lime digester, and a calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) solution is produced. Calcium hydroxide is the basic raw material for subsequent carbonization reactions. Then store it in a storage tank.
- Carbonization Reaction
This process takes place in a carbonization tower. The carbon dioxide is introduced into the calcium hydroxide through a nozzle, It reacts evenly with calcium hydroxide to form precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) and release water. The Reaction temperature, carbon dioxide flow rate, and reaction time need Precise control, usually carried out at a room temperature of 60°C.
- Sedimentation and Separation
The precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) generated by the carbonization reaction gradually settles in the reaction tank. When precipitation is less or more efficient separation is required, A centrifuge is needed to separate the precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) from the liquid.
- Drying and Sieving
The wet precipitated calcium carbonate(PCC) must carry out the drying process through spray drying or hot air drying. Then the particle size is adjusted through the sieving system. Ensure that the particles are uniform and meet the requirements of different applications.
